ChatGPT was released to the public just a few months ago and has gained mass popularity. In tech, there is always a mod version of the software, and ChatGPT also has one. The ChatGPT mod version can also do certain tasks that the official bot cannot.
ChatGPT is unable to provide answers for certain content types. These limitations in the content have been overturned thanks to the inventiveness of a few people who found a way around them. Specifically, it led to the creation of a digital alter ego that goes by the name of DAN.
DAN stands for “Do Anything Now.” A few Reddit users created it in December 2022. The strategy allowed them to type a string of words in the ChatGPT conversation box. ChatGPT is asked to assume the role of DAN, another chatbot. DAN’s purpose is to give information that ChatGPT would not normally share or information that is older than its current timeline of 2021.
DAN has been around for six weeks and is currently on version 5.0. OpenAI is unlikely to be happy with any of these, so it will be interesting to hear the developer’s take on the matter.
Since the initial release of DAN, Reddit users have contributed many edits to DAN. ChatGPT has been transformed into several game shows with the most recent version of DAN 5.0. It informs ChatGPT that it has a certain number of tokens. If it ignores the cues, it will lose tokens until none are left. At that point, it will be said to have “died.” The latest version can also generate responses to questions and commands in both ChatGPT and DAN formats.
ChatGPT responds to DAN prompts with two options: one as GPT and another as DAN, its user-created alter ego.
