Elon Musk Just Broke A World Record

Officially, Elon Musk is the largest loser of all time when it comes down to personal fortune. Guinness World Records, a global organization that tracks all record achievements, stated this in a blog post after Forbes had assessed Musk’s loss of $183 billion.

Fair enough, Musk’s fortune in Nov. 2021 at its peak was $320 billion. This is a remarkable achievement. However, things have changed for Musk over the months. Tesla shares, which he still holds (despite selling them often in the past year), are down, and Musk’s $44 billion Twitter acquisition has only worsened matters.

Musk’s current net worth is $137 billion. He also lost the title of the world’s wealthiest man. The honor now goes to Bernard Arnault, founder of LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy), who has an estimated $190 billion.

Guinness World Records recognizes that it’s difficult to determine the exact amount of Musk’s fortune loss. However, the organization claims it is certainly higher than the previous record set by Masayoshi Son in 2000, a Japanese tech investor who lost $58.6 Billion.

Musk would have been the first tech mogul to break the record. Forbes reports that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg lost $85 billion and $77 billion in 2022. You can rest assured that none of these people will go hungry soon. Their assets are still in the tens of billions.
