An ex-executive at the troubled crypto lender BlockFi took a position at Alphabet Inc. to work on Web3. Rishi Ramchandani was BlockFi’s vice president for Asia from June 2020 to this month.
According to his LinkedIn profile and a post by Mitesh Agarwal on the social media site, he is a managing director at Google who focuses on cloud service customers, partner engineering, and Web3-related efforts.
Rishi Ramchandani is now APAC Web3 lead at Google. Google Cloud supports the development, transactions, and deployment of new products.
The spokesperson stated that it has customers, including top Web3 and cryptocurrency-related companies like Nansen, Sky Mavis Inc., and Dapper Labs Inc.
BlockFi filed for bankruptcy in the last month following the collapse of Sam Bankman Fried’s empire, which included Alameda Research and exchange FTX.
It sold $239 million worth of crypto and warned nearly 250 workers that they would lose their jobs. BlockFi’s lawyer said it would seek to recover $680 million from a failed crypto universe of Bankman-Fried.
