Spotify Wrapped 2024 has landed, bringing exciting new features to explore your listening habits. One standout addition is an AI-generated podcast that recaps your music trends for the year, complete with interactive elements.
Using Google’s AI note-taking technology, NotebookLM, Spotify creates a personalized podcast hosted by two AI-generated personalities.
These hosts dive into your top tracks, favorite artists, and most-played genres, offering a dynamic recap of your musical year.
This feature is accessible to both free and Premium users in English across several countries, including the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland, and Sweden, adding a fresh, engaging twist to Spotify Wrapped.
Molly Holder, Spotify’s Senior Director of Product for Personalization, highlighted the company’s commitment to audio and innovation during a recent press briefing.
“At Spotify, we’re passionate about audio and podcasts, always striving to connect with our users wherever they are listening,” she explained.
She described the collaboration with Google as an exciting opportunity to enhance user engagement, making the integration a natural fit for Spotify’s goals.
This year’s Spotify Wrapped introduces a feature that maps how your music preferences shifted month by month.
It assigns up to three thematic phrases, such as “heatwave,” “beach,” or “reggaeton,” to capture your evolving taste.
Alongside this, Spotify creates a customized “music evolution” playlist. This playlist blends your top tracks from the year with new songs curated to match your listening style, offering a unique snapshot of your musical journey.
Spotify’s AI DJ is back for this year’s Wrapped, giving Premium users the ability to craft playlists reflecting their year in music. With prompts like “Make me a playlist of songs that represent my music journey over the year,” the AI DJ tailors selections based on listening trends.
New features also include insights into your longest listening streak for your top five artists and an upgraded “share” button. This enhancement highlights whether the audio being shared is part of your top 100 songs, top 20 artists, or top five podcasts.
While competitors like Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music rolled out their recaps earlier, Spotify Wrapped remains the most buzzed-about event of the recap season.
