Leaked Video Shows AI Automatically Creating A PowerPoint Presentation

Microsoft is scheduled to hold a major AI event later today, but one of the announcements has been leaked. According to Twitter user h0x0d, a new feature called PowerPoint Copilot will be unveiled, which appears to feature AI similar to ChatGPT that can generate presentations for users.

The Copilot will be accessible through a sidebar in the online version of PowerPoint, allowing users to request a presentation based on a Word document. The AI will then quickly produce a presentation, including a complete slide deck based on the supplied Word document.

The Copilot assistant offers several features, including the ability to request “add animations to this slide” or “apply a modern style to the presentation,” indicating that users can control PowerPoint features using this chatbot. This functionality could allow users to customize slides without needing to understand some of the more advanced features in Microsoft’s productivity apps.

The new feature is reminiscent of Google’s use of AI in Slides to add multimedia content to presentations. Just before Microsoft’s AI event, Google announced AI enhancements to Gmail, Docs, Slides, and other Google Workspace productivity apps earlier this week.

Microsoft’s “reinventing productivity with AI” event will occur today at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET, hosted by CEO Satya Nadella and Microsoft 365 head Jared Spataro.
