Xiaomi Is Also Working On A Phone With A 200MP Sensor

Scribbled Arrow

Motorola is not the only company developing a smartphone with a 200MP camera.

Digital Chat Station reports that a new phone is expanding with a 200MP sensor and a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip.

It also features a 120Hz display, a 5,000mAh battery, and a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor.

The leakster was being coy, and some speculate that it is a Xiaomi phone, specifically a Redmi K50S Pro. It could be the Xiaomi 12T Pro, but that is a guess.

The sensor will either be the Samsung ISOCELL H1 or ISOCELL H3. They both have 200MP resolution.

The difference lies in the optical format and pixel sizes - 1/1.22", 0.64um, and 1/1.4", respectively (before 4-in-1 bidding).

Motorola was using the HP1 larger sensor and posted a sample of its camera earlier today, which shows what it can do with 4-in-1 Pixel Binning enabled.

However, that's still a 50MP image! It is not clear yet which sensor Xiaomi will choose. It makes sense to choose the HP1, given the 8+ Gen 1 premium chipset.

More uncertainties remain: will Leica work on the phone? To find out, we will need to wait for more leaks.
