Unilever announced on Monday that it had appointed Hein Schumacher to succeed Alan Jope as chief executive starting in July.

Schumacher, 51, who has been with the company since October, joined Unilever last year.

He was appointed a non-executive director. He is currently the CEO of the Dutch dairy company Friesland Campina.

He was employed at Unilever for more than 20 years ago before working at retailer Royal Ahold NV and packaged food manufacturer H.J. Heinz in the United States, Europe and Asia.
