A clear photograph showing the moon's rays stitched like a mosaic of thousands of photos is drawing popularity on the web.

NASA did not capture it, nor was it taken by it was taken by the James Webb telescope.

A couple of years ago, Andrew McCarthy and Connor Matherne collaborated to make "the most absurd moon shot we could think of," McCarthy shared on Reddit. 

The final creation was shared online on Saturday and has garnered more than 100,000 votes, along with thousands of likes on Reddit.

The stunning image that is trending across social networks was crafted of 250,000 photos comprising 200,000 black and white photographs

taken by McCarthy and 50,000 photos in colour by Matherne, which were taken during one evening in November, Matherne told reporters.
