Scribbled Arrow

Tesla's new virtual power station is located in Japan.

The company announced that it had been discreetly installing the Powerwall batteries in homes on the island of Miyako-Jima from 2021 and has more than 300 installed.

It's the most significant commercial online power station in Japan, as per the company's statement.

The virtual power plant is based upon a program by the local utility for energy located in Miyako-Jima Miyakojima Mirai Energy Co, which has solar panels installed and storage batteries for free.

Tesla already has power plants that operate as virtual across California and Australia and is currently working to put one on its feet in Texas.

In this state, it sees the opportunity to bring an additional energy source to an ever-changing grid prone to failure.

In California, those with Powerwalls in their homes will receive the equivalent of $2 for each kilowatt hour fed back to the grid

Tesla has announced it will be able to have upto 400 Powerwall units operational at the end of the year and 600 before the end of 2023.

Tesla plans to expand its offerings to the remaining part of the Okinawa prefecture,

which encompasses the island cluster that runs from Taiwan and the Japanese mainland as well as Taiwan.
