SpaceX And T-Mobile Team Up To Offer Zero-G (Forget 5G)

Scribbled Arrow

T-Mobile and SpaceX announced their partnership on Starbase situated at Boca China, Texas.

The two companies shared a vision of the future in which dead zones will be eliminated through SpaceX's Starlink satellites.

T-Mobile will allocate a piece of its PCS mid-band spectrum to work with Starlink satellites that will go into orbit later this year.

Satellites will mimic the appearance of a "cell" in the earth and offer speeds up to 2 Mbps.

Musk believes this is enough to handle 1000 to 2000 simultaneous calls and hundreds of thousands of text messages.

It will be possible to connect from your smartphone insofar as it can receive T-Mobile's mid-band PCS spectrum (band n41, which is 2.5GHz).

The service will be available as a beta test in 2023. A public launch is possible in 2024.

Elon Musk extended an open invitation to all wireless service providers in a live appearance.
