Spanish Prosecutors announced on Friday that they would seek a prison sentence

that would last more than eight years against the world-renowned music star Shakira after she resisted an agreement to plead guilty to tax fraud charges.

This week, the actress was critical of the "complete infringing of her right to privacy" and "abusive techniques" used in the prosecutor's office.

She claimed that prosecutors had been "insisting on claiming that money that I earned from my international tours as well as the reality show "The Voice"

A Barcelona tribunal in May rejected an appeal by the singer, who requested to dismiss the charges.

Shakira was named in one of the largest ever leaks of financial documents in October 2021, known as the "Pandora Papers", among public figures linked to offshore assets.
