Samsung Says Customer Data Stolen In July Data Breach

Samsung Electronics has just revealed the existence of a breach in customers' data.

In a brief announcement, Samsung said it discovered the security issue in late summer,

And "unauthorized third party accessed data from Samsung's U.S. systems." 

Samsung said it discovered that customer data was compromised on the 4th of August.

Samsung claimed that Social Security numbers and credit card numbers weren't affected; however, some personal information about customers

Such as name contact and demographic data, such as birth date, and information about the product's registration was accessed.

Langlois did not provide details on the number of affected customers or explain why it took Samsung over one month to notify customers of the breach.

Samsung said the company has made steps to safeguard its systems and has engaged an unidentified security firm from a third party.
