Samsung predicts that the Galaxy Z series' shipments will surpass those of the Galaxy S series within three years.

The current market conditions have caused a decline in sales of premium smartphones.

However, the new form factor will be expected to revive the market.

TM Roh, President of Samsung's Mobile Experience Business, said that foldable will account for more than 50% of Samsung's premium smartphone shipments by 2025.

Foldables will be the new standard for smartphones.

According to Media data, the foldable market is rapidly growing, increasing 309% between 2020 and 2021.

This translates into a total of 9,000,000 shipments.

The bulk of this was made up by Samsung's Z-series, with the Galaxy Z Flip3 & Z Fold3 selling 7.1 million units each at the end of the year.

This is even though they were only launched in August 2002. Popular Z Flip models that are less expensive are more in demand.

The Z Flip3 was responsible for 4.6 million of last year's total Z-series shipments.

It shipped over 1,000,000 units in the first three months, half of all foldable shipped during Q1 2022.
