After an attack, the LockBit ransomware gang released a decryptor for the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto; Dec. 19 was the day of the ransomware attack.

It affected many network systems, resulting in "Code Grey" - system failure.

The attack affected internal corporate and clinical systems, hospital phone lines, and web pages.

The attack didn't affect patient care, and the hospital claimed there was no evidence that personal or health information was being compromised.

LockBit released the decryptor and stated on Dec. 31 on its leaks website.

The statement states that LockBit has formally apologized for the attack on sikkids.ca and will return the decryptor for free.

"The attacker in this hospital broke our rules and is now blocked. He is not part of our affiliate program."

Bleeping Computer says that although the file looks legitimate, it claims to be a Linux/VMware ESXi encryption program.

It does not support Windows. This could indicate that LockBit's affiliate could not encrypt virtual machines within the hospital network.
