Chinese games company NetEase announced on Wednesday that it had rebuffed a proposal by Activision Blizzard to extend their long-term partnership for six more months.

NetEase said the proposal was "commercially illogical" and accused the U.S. firm of "seeking a divorce but still remaining attached," in a rare public display of acrimony between the two gaming giants.

Blizzard announced in November that it was ending its 14-year relationship with NetEase, which sent shockwaves throughout the gaming industry, as the alliance was widely regarded as one of the top-performing in video games.
