Scribbled Arrow

Starbucks on Thursday announced Laxman Narasimhan to be its next CEO.

Narasimhan was most recently the chief executive officer of the health and hygiene firm Reckitt which owns brands like Lysol, Durex and Mucinex.

He announced on Thursday the decision to leave his position. It's expected that he will join Starbucks in October

And begin to gain knowledge about the company's reinventing strategy before taking on the CEO role in April.

In the meantime, Howard Schultz will continue as interim CEO of the company that he transformed into a global player.

Schultz will continue to serve on Starbucks' board until Narasimhan succeeds in his position.

The CEO will be required to confront a myriad of issues. In the United States, Starbucks is facing a union battle.

More than 200 Starbucks stores across the U.S. are voting to organize under Workers United.

The fight has led to negative press coverage and legal battles. The inflation hasn't yet hurt sales but has driven price increases on menus.
