James Webb Telescope Captures Its First Direct Image Of An Exoplanet (See Images)

Scribbled Arrow

Astronomers have captured the first clear image of an alien planet using the James Webb Space Telescope.

The exoplanet or planet that is not part of our solar system is a giant gas star around six to twelve times the size of Jupiter.

The planet, dubbed HIP 65426 B, has a lifespan of between 15-20 million years old compared to Earth which can be 4.5 billion years old.

The planet is visible in four distinct wavelengths of infrared light captured by Webb's various instruments.

Webb can see the universe through visible light in the infrared spectrum that is not visible to the human eye,

Making it the ideal space telescope to provide information regarding distant planets.
