UK Slips Behind India To Become World’s Sixth Biggest Economy

Scribbled Arrow

Britain has fallen behind India to be the sixth-largest economy, dealing a devastating hit to the government of London as it struggles with an incredibly high cost of living.

Formerly, the British colony leaped ahead of the UK in the last third of 2021 to be the fifth largest economy.

The calculations are based on US dollars. India has pushed ahead in the first quarter according to figures for GDP from the International Monetary Fund.

In contrast to the other countries, the Indian economy is expected to grow by 7 percent in the coming year.

A record-breaking rebound in Indian stocks in the last quarter has propelled them to the second position on the MSCI Emerging Markets Index.

Based on an adjusted basis and using the exchange rate for dollars at the end of the quarter in question,

The volume of the Indian economy in "nominal" cash terms for the period from March was $854.7 billion. Based on the same data, the UK was $816 billion.
