Google has clarified that it will add a warning about "suspected spam caller" to Google Voice calls if it does not believe they are legitimate.

The company posted a Thursday post stating that it identifies spam using the same advanced AI system it uses with its Android phone app.

You can confirm that the call was spam by pressing the button.

Future calls will go straight to your voicemail. If it is confirmed as spam, the label will be removed.

Google Voice can automatically filter spam calls to voicemail.

It also allows you to screen calls before you pick them up.

However, those options are not ideal if you get a lot of calls from unknown numbers.

Google states that you will need to disable the Filter Spam feature. Go to Settings > Security > Filter Spam to turn off automatic spam labeling.

According to Google Voice, the spam warnings will be made available to all users with a Google Voice account.

They could take 15 days to roll out and start on Thursday. This means that you should see them starting January 13th.
