Google Launches New Animated And Customizable Emojis To Android

Google is working on the next generation of emojis, which are free to use thanks to its Noto Emoji program.

First, 31 new Emojis have been added to Unicode 15.0, which gives a total number of 3,664. See videos and images of new emojis in following  slides.

They will be available on Android and other Google projects in the coming year.

The support for animation is one of the most important upgrades. Google has also switched to COLRv1.

These fonts are vector images so that they can be used in smaller font files (e.g., Twitter's "Twemoji" icon set has been reduced from 9MB down to 1.85MB.
