Now it appears that Google is hopping on the bandwagon since there is some convincing evidence to suggest that they are working on their version of an intelligent tracker.

It is believed that the Google Smart Tracker was initially identified by Mishaal Rahman, who discovered the term "Locator Tag" as the device's type.
