While Microsoft is deeply involved in ChatGPT maker OpenAI, Google may have made a switch to a business that was founded in the past by OpenAI employees, the elusive Anthropic.

According to a report by The Financial Times, in late 2022, Google invested around $300 million into the company; however, the news was not announced then.

In exchange for the cash, Google got a 10 percent stake in the company, and Anthropic has to buy cloud computing services from Google, as per the Financial Times.

This partnership is like the partnership that exists between Microsoft with OpenAI.

In this case, OpenAI provides the research expertise, and Microsoft offers not only billions of dollars of investment but also access to its vast cloud platform that is required to train the most advanced, computationally intensive AI models.

It's interesting to note that Anthropic is also developing its chatbot for general purposes, which could be a competitor to ChatGPT called Claude.
