Environmental groups have sued to force the United States to overturn its approval of a deepwater export facility on the Texas Gulf Coast, saying it will increase oil production and greenhouse gas pollution.

The Sea Port Oil Terminal (SPOT) is operated by Energy Pipeline Operator Enterprise Products Partners.

It is the most significant offshore export terminal in the United States, with the capacity to take two supertankers at one time and export two million barrels of crude oil every day.
