Elon Musk Denies 'Romantic' Affair With Google Co-founder Sergey Brin's Wife

Tesla chief Elon Musk tweeted late on Sunday via Twitter that Elon Musk and Google Co-founder Sergey Brin remain friends and denied reports that he was associated with Brin's partner Nicole Shanahan.

Musk's tweets were made after a Wall Street Journal report that quoted unidentified sources as saying that Musk was involved in an affair for a short time with Shanahan.

The report said that the incident led Brin to declare divorce from Shanahan earlier in the year. It also ended the billionaires of tech's long-running relationship.

The report was dismissed by Musk. Musk posted on Twitter: "Sergey and I are friends, and we were at a dinner party last night!

I've only been to see Nicole twice in the past three years, and both times together with other people. Nothing romantic."

Google, whose parent companies are Alphabet Inc and Tesla, did not immediately respond to Reuter's request for comment during normal working hours.

Reuters could not immediately get in touch with Brin or Shanahan to discuss the matter.

A lawyer representing Brin refused to speak to the WSJ, and Shanahan did not respond to inquiries by the newspaper for comment.

Brin sought divorce based on "irreconcilable disagreements," the Journal said in a report that cited records that had been filed with Santa Clara County Superior Court.

In its article, the WSJ also reported that Brin advised his advisors to sell his personal stakes in Musk's businesses after the news of the scandal.

The Wall Street Journal did not respond immediately to Reuters' request for comments regarding Musk's denial of the report outside of normal US business hours.
