DeepMind Is Training Its New AI To Play Football

Scribbled Arrow

The DeepMind team has created a new AI system that can learn how to perform tasks within a physics simulation

When it watches videos that show other robots doing the same tasks.

Also, suppose you've got the largest physics engine in the world and an unending number of curious robots.

In that case, the only sensible option is to teach it to shoot and dribble. Based on the research team's paper:

We designed groups of players to play football simulations through reinforcement learning,

limiting the problem space to realistic movements learned from Human motion-capture data.

It will be interesting to see how the more adaptable models, like the ones created by DeepMind,

perform after they have moved beyond the lab and into real robotics applications.  Swipe Up To See The Video.
