The Kerala government launched a robotic scavenger named Bandicoot to clean sewages in Guruvayur.

The robotic Tron Unit is the major component of Bandicoot and has robotic hands, similar to human limbs, to remove sewage.

Bandicoot also has waterproof, HD vision cameras, and sensors to detect harmful gases inside the manholes.

Bandicoot robots are currently deployed in few towns across 17 states in India and three Union Territories.

The Kerala Minister said that the launch of the project in Guruvayur ended manual scavenging in Kerala,
