The suit dated from the year 2018 and was filed by several consumers who claimed Apple covered up the flaw in the butterfly-shaped keyboards in its MacBooks so that they could sell the devices.

The butterfly, which was utilized for MacBooks from 2015 to 2019, was notorious for having issues like keys that would repeat or keys that were sticky, as well as complete keyboard malfunctions.

In June of this year, Apple launched a keyboard repair program for MacBook, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air models, which covered four years from purchase.

Responding to the case, Apple has agreed to make a payment of $50 million to settle the matter and also offer compensation to customers affected.

Claimants will be accepted until the 6th of March, 2023, and a final hearing for approval will be held on March 16, 2023.
