In her remarks to People, she expressed concern, stating, “It is alarming that the U.S. government is not taking action to protect its citizens from the real dangers posed by A.I.”

The controversial video displays Johansson alongside other Jewish celebrities such as Jerry Seinfeld, Mila Kunis, Jack Black, and Drake, all wearing a t-shirt with the name “Kanye” and a middle finger graphic that features the Star of David.

Recently, Ye (formerly Kanye West) returned to X to share antisemitic remarks and even started selling shirts with a swastika on his website, which has since been removed.

Johansson also commented on the issue, saying, “As a Jewish woman, I have zero tolerance for antisemitism or hate speech in any form.”

She added that the misuse of A.I. to spread hate speech poses a much greater risk than any individual responsible for it. She emphasized the need to address the misuse of A.I. to avoid losing touch with reality.

She called on lawmakers to prioritize legislation that limits A.I. usage, emphasizing that it is a bipartisan issue that significantly impacts humanity’s future. Johansson has been vocal about A.I. since it became widely available.

In 2023, she filed a lawsuit against an A.I. app developer for using her likeness in an advertisement without permission.

She later criticized OpenAI for using a voice resembling hers in ChatGPT, which led to OpenAI discontinuing that voice.

Last year, a bill was introduced to tackle sexually explicit deepfakes, but there has been little progress on regulating other A.I. technologies.

In September 2024, California Governor Gavin Newsom vetoed a significant A.I. safety bill, and President Donald Trump reversed an executive order by Joe Biden aimed at setting safety guidelines for A.I.

Recently, both the U.S. and U.K. chose not to sign an international agreement promoting ethical A.I. usage.
